Misunderstood?

Evil Monster? Or Just misunderstood?

This is the plight of the Pitbull.

Personally, I think they are a wonderful breed. You won't find a more tolerant dog with kids - especially my kids. But put this dog in the wrong hands and you have a lethal weapon. And you've seen it. The news can't wait to report on "Another Pitbull attack" but you know what? Pitbulls aren't the breed with the most dog bites.....Your pal the Golden Retriever tops the list.

Yup. It is. This dog will bite you more often than the dog up top. But you don't hear about those incidents because they're not *newsworthy* It's discrimination in the dog world.

Pitbulls are dog aggressive - NOT people aggressive. BIG difference.

There are rules to owning a pitbull, just like there are rules for owning other breeds. You wouldn't want to own a German Shorthaired Pointer if you are a couch potato. Or an Australian Shepherd if you are a homebody - these dogs will DESTROY your house if you don't exercise them.

Pitbulls will become news statistics if you don't obey the rules.

Rule #1 - don't ever trust your pittie not to fight with another dog. It's common sense. People ignore it. Dog fights erupt and the pit gets the short end of the stick  - shelter bound and probably not rescued.

Anyway - I think these are beautiful, misunderstood dogs - and if my homeowner's insurance allowed it, I would have one.
